We’re back in L.A. this week to meet the lovely Natasha Garrett at her home in Echo Park that she shares with her dog Cowboy. Natasha is the founder of the store Roam Vintage and a life-long collector of beautiful things. We spoke to Natasha about some of her favourite treasures, weekend rituals and resolutions for the rest of the year.
“I’ve lived in this home for just over a year. I love that it’s got this bungalow/cabin vibe. It feels cozy and lived in. I love the original wood floors and the avocado tree in the backyard. As far as rentals go, I feel like this place is a real gem and has a lot of soul.”
“There’s so many special objects in this house – the string of bells hung on my front door. My mom had bells on the door growing up and the sound of them as I enter my home reminds me of her. I also love the vintage brass candle sconce in the living room. It feels so romantic to me and I love nothing more than a candlelit home in the evening.”

“My bedroom is pretty minimal. I don’t like to sleep with clutter around me. I have two vintage wood nightstands that I got at my favorite flea market that flank my bed with a Noguchi Akari 1A lamp on my side and an abstract metal sculpture on the other side. I have an Upton woven wall hanging over my bed that really centers the space.”

“I have french doors off to the side of my bed that lead out into the courtyard shared with my neighbors. I love opening my curtains first thing in the morning to let in light while I drink coffee in bed. I am a big fan of slow mornings and thoroughly enjoy my time in bed before starting my day.”

“I have a small archive of vintage pieces that I won’t let go of and plan to keep as heirlooms. Other than those, I am actually pretty non attached to what I find [for my business Roam Vintage]. Sure, sometimes it tears at my heart a bit to see something go but I also know that I will keep finding amazing things that bring me joy, and for me it is so much more about the hunt than anything.”
“I live close to a big park that has a nice hiking trail. I take my dog on hikes there a couple times a week. I like to stay pretty local to my neighborhood when I have time off. I’ll usually meet a friend for coffee or a bite to eat somewhere in the neighborhood. While it is technically work, I thoroughly enjoy going to flea markets on weekends.”
“I love Echo Park so much. It has a really vibrant creative community and it is so close to Downtown, where I do a majority of my business. The part of Echo Park I live in is particularly beautiful because it is home to historic Victorian houses. Daily walks around the neighborhood looking at all the beautiful homes and gardens is a highlight.”
For the rest of the year I’m really looking forward to spending more time with people I love.
“For the rest of the year I’m really looking forward to spending more time with people I love. I’d like to host more dinners and game nights at my house. I feel like we are all longing so much for more connection these days and I would love to find meaningful ways to create it or be a part of it.”
