IN BED products are carefully sourced from all corners of the globe. We aim to create
thoughtful essentials for everyday life and produce wares that our customers can live in and love for years to come.

We use only high quality, natural fibres and fabrics. We work only with certified factories, and visit all of our
supply partners to ensure that standards for our products (and those who make them) are consistent and exceedingly high.

Linen

We choose to work primarily with linen because flax linen is one of the most environmentally friendly fibres in the textiles industry. Flax requires less fertiliser and water than most other fibres to cultivate, and every part of the flax plant can be utilised to create diverse and valuable products, meaning that nothing is wasted.

We also love linen for its natural qualities; it’s light and breathable in summer, and is cosy and warm in winter. Linen improves with each wash, gradually softening over time.

One of our production partners in Portugal

Flax for our linen originates in Western Europe; France, Belgium and the Netherlands, where it is grown and harvested. After harvest it is then woven and made into IN BED products at one of two factories we work with, one in Guimarães, Portugal (for IN BED branded bed linen) and the other in Shenzhen, China (for our sleepwear, kitchen linen & IN BED x Triibe collaboration
colours).

Guimarāes, Portugal

The majority of our bed linen is now made in Guimarães, Portugal. It is cut, sewn and finished in a pioneering factory that has a special interest in textiles innovation, research and sustainable development. Portugal has a strong history of high end, quality linen and clothing manufacturing and the flax used for our linen is European Flax® certified. This means that the flax growers and traders follow environmental best practice, and it guarantees a high level of traceability and accountability through each stage of production.

One of our production partners in Shenzhen, China

The factory we work with in Shenzhen specialises in high-quality flax linen products and take great care and pride in producing an exemplary product. They export linen fabric and goods to high-end brands in Switzerland, Italy, the U.S. and more, producing a linen of exceptional quality.

We’ve worked closely with both our partners to create the incredibly soft, signature IN BED feel to our linen, achieved by using a certain mechanical stone-wash finish, which also consumes significantly less water than a traditional enzyme wash.

GOTS Organic Cotton Towels

Our Organic cotton towels are made in a Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified factory in Guimarães, Portugal.

Being GOTS certified means the full production of the towels is 100% organic and ensures best environmental practise at all points of the production process.

Egyptian Cotton Bath towels

Our Rust cotton towels are made from certified 100% Egyptian combed cotton in Denizli, Turkey, an area with a strong heritage of manufacturing luxurious bath linens. The family-owned factory we work with has been trading for over 30 years and complies with a strict set of standards & certifications. They are a fully integrated business handling all aspects of production from yarn spinning to finishing.

Cotton from Egypt is one of the most luxurious cottons in the world offering long and regular fibres which give our towels an exceptional softness, durability and colour brightness.

Organic Cushions

Our Organic cushions are made in New Delhi, India. The small factory where our cushions are made is certified Oekotex and GOTS, ensuring all products are beautifully manufactured from Organic fabrics.

Our Packaging

We are conscious of excess packaging and the impact this has on the environment, which is why we aim to always use packaging made with natural, reusable or recyclable fabrics. Our linen & cotton bags are made from factory fabrics’ and IN BED production offcuts and act as a source of protection during transport & storage. We encourage their continued use for storing linens or even sorting socks & underwear. They are especially great to help you organise different categories when packing.

All of our swing tags are plastic free & completely recyclable. Over the past months we have been moving away from using safety pins (which are non recyclable) to fasten tags to products opting instead to use recyclable twine to attach them directly to bags & tags.  We have a ‘no individual poly-bag’ policy with our production partner, which means that goods are not individually wrapped in plastic when shipped, which is unfortunately still common practice in the textiles industry. In rare cases poly-bag use is unavoidable and so we opt for EPI Poly-bag, which is made using degradable plastics.

If you do not have any need for your linen bags and would like to return them for reuse by IN BED you are more than welcome to return them to us in store, either by post or in person, at:

A Word on Sustainability, Circularity & Transparency

As a business, IN BED is committed to production methods and business practices which value transparency and social & environmental sustainability. We have an ongoing commitment to improving our practices, including finding ways to ensure the longest life possible for our products, prioritising waste reduction, minimising shipping and more generally, supporting the transition towards a circular economy.

In the case of small defects with fabric, or sewing that is able to be repaired, our policy is to always offer alterations first, before suggesting replacement. For all other samples or imperfect products, we offer these at a reduced rate at our annual warehouse sale and do not send product to landfill.

In production, dyeing is the most consumptive process of water in the manufacture of linen products. The facilities in the Guimaraes’ factories where our products are made are some of the most efficient worldwide, with comparatively low water consumption, and a re-use rate of around 70%. Any chemicals used in the dyes are strictly regulated by REACH, a regulation body of the European Union, adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by certain chemicals.

At the moment we’re also working on..

  • Offering guidelines for the reuse of IN BED products and a service to collect end-of-life products.
  • At present, the majority of all materials produced (including marketing) use FSC certified paper or cardboard, but we are working towards 100%.

If you would like further information on any of our products or practises, please get in touch with us at info@inbedstore.com – We’d love to hear from you.
