Can I tumble dry my linen & cotton bedding?

If line drying isn’t an option for you we recommend tumble drying on a low setting so the colour and fibre of your linen won’t be compromised over time. For further product details please see our Product Care page

Should I wash my bedding before sleeping on it?

Yes we highly recommend washing your linen prior to using it. Please ensure you have checked the size & colour is correct prior to doing this as returns won’t be accepted if the goods have been laundered.

We suggest a warm, machine wash with a gentle detergent. Wash with like colours and if possible, line dry your linen.

Please avoid any harsh detergents or chemicals to prolong the life of your linen. Do not use bleach anytime, as it will affect the colour. For further care instructions please see our Product Care page

How do I know if I’d prefer cotton or linen bedding?

It’s a tough choice, we know. But we’ve put together a few words & descriptions that might help you make your decision easier.

What is the lifespan of my linen sheets?

With the correct care, your bedding should last many years. However we do ask you to keep in mind that our linen (and all pre-softened linen) is put through a stone washing process to ensure it is beautiful and soft to sleep in from the moment you receive it. This can somewhat shorten the lifespan of linen (fitted sheets in particular as they come under  a longer more wear and tear than other items) however without this process, linen in incredibly course and unpleasant to sleep in. The life span can be greatly improved by following these simple steps:

  1. Avoid harsh detergents & bleaches as this can damage the fibres
  2. Wash on a warm cycle with gentle detergents
  3. Line dry your sheets if possible & if not, ensure you use a gentle setting on your tumble dryer
  4. Change your sheets regularly (we recommend every 1-2 weeks)
  5. Rotate your sheets with 1 or 2 other sets so the same ones aren’t going back on your bed as soon as you have washed & dried them (like your favourite t-shirt, you need to give your favourite sheets time to rest so the fibres don’t wear out sooner than you’d like)

What thread count is IN BED bedding?

Our cotton ranges are 400TC percale and 200TC washed cotton percale. Both are a light, crisp cotton perfect for warmer climates.

Linen bedding is measured in weight rather than thread count and our linen is 170gsm which we think is the perfect, not-too-heavy not-too-light weight. Great for all seasons and climates.

A Word On Our Packaging

We are conscious of excess packaging and the impact this has on the environment.  This is why we aim to always use packaging made with natural, reusable or recyclable fabrics (such as our linen & cotton drawstring bags or our cardboard cotton bedding) and avoid individual use plastic poly-bags. In rare cases poly-bag use is unavoidable, we opt for EPI Poly-bag, made with degradable plastic.

Our linen & cotton bags are great to reuse for storing items, sorting socks & underwear and are especially great to help you organise different categories when packing.

If you do not have any need for your linen bags and would like to return them for reuse by IN BED you are more than welcome to return them to us in store at: 72b Oxford Street, Paddington NSW 2021 either in person or by post.
